Specialized Mental Health Counseling Methods

We use evidence-based counseling methods tailored to your unique history.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Patients experiencing chronic anxiety or depression often develop automatic, unhelpful thoughts, like assuming the worst-case scenario. CBT focuses on your present thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Your therapist helps you catch negative thought patterns, examine them logically, and reframe them. You will also complete small behavioral homework assignments between sessions to help reduce the isolation, depression, and anxiety that often occur.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is a highly specialized therapy for healing deeply rooted trauma. Memories of severe trauma often get “stuck” in the brain, causing vivid flashbacks and physical symptoms. Our EMDR therapists near you help your brain re-file these memories through a guided, phased process. By the end of treatment, the goal is for you to remember the event without feeling controlled by it.

  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Anxiety and panic disorders
  • Grief and loss
  • Phobia
  • Childhood traumas
  • Performance anxiety

Our EMDR-trained therapists offer this specialized treatment in a safe and supportive environment.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

DBT improves emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. Combining structured CBT problem-solving with mindfulness practices like radical acceptance, DBT helps those struggling with intense emotional responses build an essential toolkit of life skills.

Additional Evidence-Based Therapy Methods

We also provide the following:

  • Supportive psychotherapy: A highly adaptable approach focusing on immediate emotional support and practical problem-solving to improve daily functioning.
  • Psychodynamic psychotherapy: A depth-oriented approach exploring how past experiences and unconscious processes affect your current relationships.
  • Solution-focused therapy: A short-term, goal-oriented method focusing on present-day challenges and building upon existing strengths.

The Process

Our sessions follow this general process:

  • Initial consultation: We begin with a compassionate intake to match you with the best licensed therapist for your needs.
  • Goal setting: We collaborate to define clear, measurable objectives for your recovery.
  • Ongoing growth: We use practical tools tailored to your specific goals for step-by-step progress.
  • Collaborative care: Our therapists work closely with our experienced psychiatrists and APRNs if you require medication management.
