Dr. Michael Tompkins, M.D.

Dr. Tompkins provides care for adults with a focus on practical, results-oriented treatment. He earned a double Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Spanish from the University of New Mexico, followed by his Doctor of Medicine from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. He completed his psychiatry residency training in Tallahassee through the UCF/HCA Residency Program.

His clinical interests include anxiety and related disorders, along with a broad range of mental health conditions. Dr. Tompkins incorporates proven therapeutic approaches into his care, including specialized training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) from the Beck Institute. He emphasizes patient education, collaboration, and actionable strategies to support meaningful progress.

He works primarily with adult patients (ages 18 and older), helping individuals improve daily functioning and overall quality of life.

Dr. Tompkins serves on faculty with the UCF/HCA Psychiatry Residency Program, where he participates in research focused on improving mental health diagnosis and treatment. He is also active in the community, having presented on topics such as healthy sleep habits and mental

Originally from Las Vegas, Nevada, Dr. Tompkins is fluent in Spanish after living in Chile for two years and enjoys connecting with Spanish-speaking patients. Outside of work, he enjoys making ice cream and smoking meats, and is always working to balance those hobbies with a healthy lifestyle.
