Our practice has been part of the Tallahassee community since 1982, making us the city’s longest-established psychiatry group.
Our journey began when Dr. Faisal Munasifi, looking for a change from Miami’s flat landscape after completing his residency and serving as Medical Director at the University of Miami, took a colleague’s advice and visited Tallahassee. Here, he met Dr. Connie Speer, who invited him to join her at a local psychiatric hospital. Just eight months later, they joined forces to create what would become Psychiatry Associates of Tallahassee, founded on a shared commitment to providing compassionate, up-to-date mental health care for all.
From day one, our doctors have been deeply involved in the community—offering lectures to family practices, supporting local hospitals, and collaborating with medical groups. When Capital Health Plan started with just 2,000 members, we were there to help.
As our team grew, so did our impact. In 2008, Dr. Jeffrey Ferraro relocated to Tallahassee to join a local hospital, providing both inpatient and outpatient services to the community. In 2015, we launched our TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) program, bringing innovative, non-invasive treatment options for depression and other disorders to our patients.
In 2016, Dr. Ferraro took the next step and founded WellStead Mental Health, continuing our tradition of innovation and patient-centered care. Dr. Ferraro expanded further in 2019, partnering with HCA Healthcare to provide psychiatric services for both inpatient and outpatient programs. In collaboration with the University of Central Florida and HCA, Dr. Ferraro and his team launched the first psychiatry residency program in the Florida panhandle in 2021.
Throughout the years, Dr. Munasifi and Dr. Ferraro have remained dedicated to the next generation of physicians, holding faculty appointments at the Florida State University College of Medicine and in addition, currently serving as faculty at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine.
In 2024, as demand for our services has grown, we have engaged in developing an expansion plan to grow our successful model to other markets in Florida.
